Product Description:
Our Trade Quality MDF is a 12mm engineered board manufactured to a consistent trade specification, suited to joinery, furniture, and interior finishing work. It is used for cabinet carcasses and backs, shelving, wardrobe and cupboard interiors, wall panelling, door linings, boxing in, templates and jigs, and general carpentry across domestic and commercial projects.
Consistency is what trade grade buys you. Because MDF has no grain direction, knots, or voids, every sheet behaves identically and every cut comes out the same, whichever way round the board is turned — and a trade specification holds that consistency from sheet to sheet and delivery to delivery. On a run of shelves, a set of cabinet doors, or anything cut to a template, that predictability saves more time than any other property of the board.
The 12mm thickness is the most widely used in joinery, rigid enough for carcassing and shelving over moderate spans while remaining manageable to lift and cut without a second person. Edges machine cleanly enough to rout a moulded profile straight into the board, and the smooth closed face takes primer and paint with minimal preparation. At 2440 x 1220mm each sheet covers 2.98m². Cut edges are more absorbent and should be sealed before painting, and pilot holes are worth drilling near an edge, where MDF splits more readily than across the face.
