Product Description:

Knauf Plasterboard Adhesive is a gypsum-based bonding compound supplied in a 25kg bag, used to fix plasterboard directly to masonry walls by the dot and dab method. It also bonds Knauf Metal Furring Channels to a wall ahead of boarding, and is suitable for dry lining brick, block, and concrete in new build, extension, and refurbishment work.

Dot and dab is the standard method for lining a masonry wall. The adhesive is mixed to a stiff consistency and applied to the wall in dabs, the board is offered up and tapped back to a level line, and the adhesive sets to hold it in position — all without the battens, fixings, and build-up depth that timber framing would need. It lines a room far more quickly than battening and loses less floor space, and the small cavity behind the board helps with sound and allows for slight unevenness in the wall.

One 25kg bag covers approximately 4 to 6m², depending on how flat the wall is, as an uneven surface needs deeper dabs and more material. Mix with clean water by hand to a thick, workable consistency, and use within the working time, as gypsum-based adhesive sets rather than drying out and cannot be revived once it has gone off. The wall should be clean, dry, and free of dust, and highly absorbent or previously painted surfaces may need priming first for a reliable bond.
