Product Description:

This box supplies 200 woodscrews at 4.0 x 30mm, a medium-short screw with a heavier gauge for general fixing and assembly work. It suits fitting hinges and heavier ironmongery, putting up shelf brackets and wall fittings, fixing plywood and MDF to battens, assembling frames, cabinets, and flat-pack furniture, fixing beading and trim, and general carpentry and repair work.

At 30mm the screw bridges the gap between the short fitting lengths and the longer fixing sizes. It passes through an 18mm board and still drives a solid 12mm into the timber behind, or fixes a bracket firmly into a stud or batten without risk of breaking through the far side of standard framing. That makes it a practical everyday size, and one of the lengths most likely to be reached for when the job is neither delicate trim work nor structural framing.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving good pull-out resistance, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface of a board or bracket and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely with less cam-out. The 4.0mm gauge holds better than a 3.5mm in chipboard and MDF, where finer screws can strip out. Pilot holes are worth drilling in hardwoods and close to ends and edges.
