The Faithfull 16 Teeth Tarmac Rake is a heavy-duty rake built for spreading and levelling tarmac, asphalt, and macadam on driveways, footpaths, car parks, and road repairs. With a 16-tooth head fitted to a wooden handle, it is also well suited to moving and levelling heavier aggregates such as gravel, scalpings, and hardcore on groundworks and landscaping jobs.

A tarmac rake is a different tool from a standard garden or landscape rake. Tarmac and macadam are dense and heavy, and hot material in particular needs to be moved quickly and firmly before it begins to cool and stiffen. The strong, rounded teeth push through thick, heavy material without bending or catching, drawing it across the surface and breaking up lumps as they go, while the back of the head can be turned over to level and smooth the surface ready for rolling or compacting.

The wooden handle gives a firm, comfortable grip and good control over the head, and timber does not conduct heat the way metal does, which makes a real difference when working with hot-laid tarmac. It also absorbs some of the shock and vibration of dragging heavy material across a rough surface. For cold lay macadam repairs, the rake is ideal for spreading material evenly across a patch before compacting. Clean the head after use to prevent tarmac hardening between the teeth.
