Our Concrete Rockface Gravel Board is a solid precast concrete board that fits along the base of a fence, between concrete posts and beneath the fence panel. At 1.83m long and 300mm high, it suits the standard 6ft panel width and is used on garden boundaries, dividing fences, and around driveways and paths, particularly where the ground is damp, uneven, or held back on one side.

The purpose of a gravel board is to keep the timber fence panel clear of the ground. Timber in contact with soil stays wet, which is where rot starts and why the bottom of a fence is usually the first part to fail. A concrete board takes the place of that bottom section, sitting in the ground so the panel above stays dry and lasts considerably longer. Unlike a timber gravel board, concrete will not rot, warp, or need replacing, and requires no treatment or maintenance over the life of the fence.

The rockface finish gives the board a textured, stone-effect face that looks more considered than a plain concrete board, and sits well with both natural and painted fencing. At 300mm high, it gives a taller base than the standard 150mm board, which is useful on sloping gardens, for holding back a modest level difference between neighbouring plots, or for keeping pets and small animals from getting under the fence. The board slots into the channels of slotted concrete posts, with the panel dropped in on top.
