Our Black DPM Roll is a 250 micron polyethylene damp proof membrane designed to prevent rising moisture passing up through concrete ground floors. Supplied in a 4m x 25m roll covering 100m², it is laid beneath concrete slabs and screeds in extensions, garages, outbuildings, garden rooms, and new ground floors, and is also used as a general-purpose moisture barrier on site.

A concrete slab laid directly onto the ground will draw moisture up from below, leading to damp floors, failed floor coverings, mould, and deterioration of timber and finishes above. The membrane forms a continuous barrier between the ground and the slab, keeping the concrete and everything laid over it dry. At 250 microns it is flexible enough to follow the contours of a sub-base and dress up the perimeter walls, while retaining its performance across a wide range of temperatures.

The 4m width covers a typical extension or garage floor in fewer runs, reducing the number of joints across the slab. The membrane should be laid over a sand blinding layer to protect it from puncture by sharp sub-base material, with joints overlapped by at least 150mm and sealed with DPM tape, and the edges turned up the walls to link with the damp proof course. Take care to avoid punctures when placing reinforcement mesh and pouring concrete, and repair any damage with DPM tape before the slab is laid.
