Our 9mm Plywood Sheet is a versatile mid-weight panel manufactured from layers of timber veneer bonded together with the grain of each layer set at right angles to the one beneath. At this thickness it suits shelving, cabinet carcassing and furniture making, wall and ceiling linings, boxing in, loft boarding, shed and workshop linings, door panels, and general joinery across domestic and light commercial work.

The cross-grained construction gives the sheet strength in both directions along with good resistance to warping, splitting, and seasonal movement, so it holds its shape and keeps its dimensions through changes in temperature and humidity. At 9mm it strikes a useful middle ground: rigid enough to span between supports and hold a screw along its face without the flex of a thinner board, while remaining light enough to lift, carry, and cut without a second pair of hands. That combination makes it the default choice for a lot of shelving and cabinet work, where 6mm would bow under load and 12mm adds weight and cost without benefit.

Sheets cut cleanly with a circular saw or jigsaw and can be drilled, screwed, and nailed using standard tools and fixings. The flat, even face takes paint, stain, and varnish readily and can be left exposed where a natural timber finish is wanted. Use a fine-toothed blade and support the sheet fully along the cut line to keep the underside free of splintering, pilot screws near edges to avoid splitting the outer veneer, and seal cut edges where the board may be exposed to moisture.
