Our 6mm Plywood Sheet is a lightweight, versatile panel manufactured from layers of timber veneer bonded together with the grain of each layer set at right angles to the one beneath. At this thickness it suits cabinet backs, drawer bases, wall and ceiling linings, boxing in pipework, door panels, shelving backs, templates and jigs, model and craft work, and general light joinery in both domestic and commercial settings.

The cross-grained construction gives the sheet far more strength and stability than solid timber of the same thickness, which is what makes a panel this thin usable at all. It holds its shape without splitting or warping, stays true through changes in temperature and humidity, and cuts cleanly in any direction without the grain running away from the blade. At 6mm it also has enough flexibility to bend gently around a curve, which makes it a common choice for curved panels, boxing, and formwork where thicker board would not follow the shape.

Light enough to carry, lift, and cut single-handed, the sheet works easily with a jigsaw, circular saw, or even a sharp knife and straightedge on smaller pieces. The flat face takes paint, stain, and varnish readily and can be left exposed where a natural finish is wanted. Support the sheet fully along the cut line to avoid splintering on the underside, use short fixings to suit the thickness, and note that at 6mm this is a cladding and lining board rather than a structural one, so it needs a frame or backing behind it where it will carry any load.
