Our 45 x 45mm Treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 4.8m lengths and pressure treated for durability. This light square section is used for stud wall framing, noggins and dwangs, battening, trellis and pergola construction, shed and workshop framing, decking balustrade rails, and general garden and site carpentry.

At 4.8m, this is the length to buy when you are working across a run rather than in single pieces. It carries a wall plate, sole plate, or decking handrail the full length of a large room or deck without joining, and on repetitive work it cuts down efficiently — four 1.2m uprights, six 800mm noggins, or two 2.4m studs from a single length — which usually works out cheaper per metre than buying shorter stock and leaves less offcut behind.

Regularising machines the timber to an even 45 x 45mm section from end to end, so framing sits square and plasterboard or cladding fixes down flat without packing. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack, which allows this section to be used outdoors for trellis, pergolas, and decking as well as internally for framing. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails and screws, as the preservative will corrode untreated steel over time, and treat any cut ends with end grain preservative.
