Our 45 x 45mm Treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 3.6m lengths and pressure treated for durability. This light square section suits stud wall framing, noggins and dwangs, battening, trellis and pergola construction, shed and workshop framing, decking balustrade posts and rails, and general garden and site carpentry.

The 3.6m length is the advantage here over shorter stock. It runs a full wall plate or sole plate across an average room without joining, carries a handrail or balustrade rail along a decking run in one unbroken piece, and gives enough material in a single length to cut three 1.2m uprights or a full set of noggins with minimal offcut. On repetitive work, buying longer and cutting down usually costs less per metre than buying to length.

Regularising machines the timber to an even 45 x 45mm section from end to end, so framing sits square and plasterboard or cladding fixes flat without packing. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack, which allows this section to be used outdoors for trellis, pergolas, and decking as well as internally for framing. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails and screws, and treat cut ends with end grain preservative.
