Our 45 x 45mm Treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 2.4m lengths and pressure treated for durability. This small square section is used for noggins and dwangs between studs, light framing for stud walls and partitions, battening, trellis and pergola frames, shed and workshop framing, decking balustrade uprights and rails, and general garden carpentry.

Being square in section, the timber can be fixed on any face without regard to orientation, which makes it quick to work with for framing, bracing, and trimming out. It is light enough to handle and cut single-handed, and the 2.4m length matches standard ceiling and stud heights, so it cuts economically into noggins and shorter pieces with very little waste. Regularising machines the timber to an even 45 x 45mm section from end to end, so framing sits square and plasterboard or cladding fixes down flat without packing.

Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack, which allows this section to be used outdoors as well as inside for garden framing, trellis, and decking work. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails and screws, as the preservative will corrode untreated steel over time, and treat any cut ends with end grain preservative to maintain protection.
