Our 2.4m Treated Green Fence Post is a high-quality timber post manufactured from strong, straight-grained softwood and pressure treated for use in the ground. At 100 x 100mm, it is suitable for fence panels, feather edge and closeboard fencing, post and rail fencing, gate hanging posts, and boundary fencing across domestic, agricultural, and commercial sites.

Pressure treatment forces preservative deep into the timber under vacuum rather than simply coating the surface, protecting against rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. This is what allows the post to perform in permanent ground contact, where untreated timber would fail within a few years, and keeps maintenance to a minimum over the life of the fence. The treatment gives the post its initial green tint, which weathers gradually to a soft silver-grey unless a coloured preservative or stain is applied.

The 100 x 100mm section provides the strength needed for gate posts, exposed boundaries, and runs carrying heavier panels, where a lighter post is prone to twisting or snapping in high winds. As a general guide, around a quarter to a third of the post length should sit below ground, so a 2.4m post typically gives a finished height of 1.8m when set in concrete or postcrete. Any cut ends should be treated with end grain preservative to maintain protection, as cutting exposes untreated timber at the core.
