This box supplies 200 woodscrews at 3.5 x 40mm, a fine general-purpose screw for joinery and light construction work. It suits fixing skirting, architrave, and beading, hanging doors and fitting heavier ironmongery, assembling frames and cabinet carcasses, fixing plywood and MDF to battens and studwork, putting up shelf brackets, and general repair work around the house and workshop.

At 40mm the screw is long enough for proper structural grip in light timber work while staying fine enough not to split what it is driven into. Fixing through a 12mm or 18mm board, it still drives a good depth into the batten or stud behind, which is what keeps a shelf, trim, or panel tight over time. The 3.5mm diameter suits finished joinery and smaller sections where a 4.0mm or 5.0mm screw would be too coarse and risk splitting the timber or showing at the surface.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving good pull-out resistance, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the face of a board or bracket ready for filling and painting, and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely with less cam-out. Pilot holes are worth drilling in hardwoods and close to ends and edges, where a fine screw can split the timber if driven straight in.
