Product Description:

This box supplies 200 woodscrews at 3.5 x 16mm, a short, fine screw for light fixing work where a longer screw would pass straight through the material. It suits fitting hinges, catches, and small ironmongery, fixing thin plywood, hardboard, and panel backs, attaching brackets and fittings to cabinets and furniture, hanging mirrors and small fixtures, and general repair work around the house and workshop.

At 16mm the screw is designed for fixing into thin material or for sitting entirely within a single piece of timber. It is the size to use on hinges and fittings where anything longer would break through the far face of a door, drawer, or cabinet side, and on thin sheet material where there is very little depth to bite into. The 3.5mm diameter keeps the screw fine enough to use in small sections, thin battens, and finished joinery without splitting the timber or leaving an oversized hole.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving good holding power even at this short length, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface of a hinge plate, bracket, or board, and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely with less cam-out. Pilot holes are worth drilling in hardwoods and close to edges, as a short screw offers little margin if the timber splits.
