Product Description:
At 9mm the board is noticeably easier to work with than thicker MDF. It cuts, lifts, and handles single-handed, adds less weight to a finished cabinet or panel, and takes a shallow routed detail cleanly for panelling and decorative work. As MDF has no grain, knots, or voids running through it, the board cuts the same in any direction and holds its shape without warping or twisting, which keeps panels flat and square even at this thickness.
The smooth, closed face takes primer and paint evenly with minimal preparation, making 9mm a common choice for painted wall panelling and fielded door panels. At 2440 x 1220mm, each sheet covers 2.98m². Cut edges are more absorbent than the face and should be sealed before painting, and pilot holes are recommended when fixing near an edge, as thinner MDF splits more easily there. Note that at 9mm this is a lining and panelling board rather than a load-bearing one, so shelving and anything carrying weight needs 12mm or thicker, or a supporting frame behind it.
