This box supplies 100 wood screws at 6.0 x 120mm, a long, heavy-gauge screw for structural and landscaping timber work. It suits fixing sleepers for raised beds, retaining walls, and steps, joining heavy framing timbers, posts, and beams, decking substructures and newel posts, gate and pergola framing, carports and timber structures, and any connection between thick sections where a shorter screw would not reach through.

At 120mm the screw is sized for heavy timber. Fixing through a 95mm sleeper it still drives 25mm into the one beneath, and through a 45mm framing timber it reaches 75mm into the section behind, which is the depth a structural connection needs to resist the leverage that bears on posts, beams, and stacked sleepers. The 6.0mm gauge provides the shank strength to carry that load and to withstand the considerable torque of driving a screw this long into dense timber without twisting or shearing.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving high pull-out resistance so heavy joints stay tight under load, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely under high torque. Pilot holes are strongly recommended at this size, particularly in sleepers, hardwoods, and near the ends of timbers, as a screw this heavy will split timber readily if driven straight in. A high-torque driver or impact driver is advisable.
