This box supplies 100 woodscrews at 5.0 x 100mm, the longest and heaviest screw in the range, intended for structural timber work. It suits joining framing timbers and joists, fixing wall plates and bearers, decking substructures and posts, fence rails and gate framing, shed and workshop construction, and any connection where two substantial sections of timber need pulling firmly together.

At 100mm the screw is chosen for depth of penetration. Driving through a 45mm framing timber it still reaches over 50mm into the section behind, and through a 47 x 100mm stud it holds a joint that will carry real load rather than simply staying in position. The 5.0mm gauge is what makes that possible: the shank has the strength to take the load and the torque of driving a long screw without snapping, where a finer screw would flex or shear.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving high pull-out resistance so structural joints stay tight over time, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely under the high torque a screw this length demands. Pilot holes are strongly recommended at this size, particularly near the ends of timbers and in hardwoods, as a 5.0mm screw driven straight into a narrow section will split it.
