Product Description:

This box supplies 200 woodscrews at 4.0 x 25mm, a short screw with a heavier gauge for light fixing, assembly, and repair work. It suits fitting hinges, handles, catches, and ironmongery, fixing plywood, MDF, and panel backs, attaching brackets, shelf supports, and cabinet fittings, fixing beading and small trims, and general carpentry around the house and workshop.

At 25mm the screw is the most useful of the short lengths, driving a worthwhile depth into the timber behind while still staying clear of the far face on standard boards and door stiles. The 4.0mm diameter gives noticeably more grip than the equivalent 3.5mm, which suits heavier fittings, hinges on doors in daily use, and manufactured boards such as chipboard and MDF where a finer screw is prone to stripping out under load.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving good pull-out resistance for its size, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface of a bracket, hinge plate, or board, and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely with less cam-out. Pilot holes are worth drilling in hardwoods and close to ends and edges, as the heavier gauge splits thin timber more readily than a 3.5mm screw.
