This box supplies 200 woodscrews at 3.5 x 50mm, a fine screw with enough length for light framing and general construction work. It suits fixing skirting and architrave into studwork, putting up shelving and heavier brackets, assembling frames and boxes, fixing sheet material to battens and joists, light trellis and garden work, and general carpentry and repair jobs.

At 50mm the screw reaches properly into the timber behind rather than just catching it. Fixing through an 18mm or 22mm board, it still drives close to 30mm into the stud or batten, which is the depth a fixing needs to hold under load without gradually working loose. The 3.5mm diameter keeps it a finer alternative to the 5.0mm at the same length, better suited to finished joinery, smaller timber sections, and anywhere a heavier screw would split the wood or leave too visible a hole.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving good pull-out resistance, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the face of a board ready for filling and painting, and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely with less cam-out. Pilot holes are worth drilling in hardwoods and close to ends and edges, where a fine screw can split the timber if driven straight in.
