Our Granite Dust is a fine crushed granite aggregate supplied in a bulk bag for use as a compacted bedding and levelling layer. It is used for laying block paving, setts, and natural stone, bedding slabs and edgings, filling joints between setts and cobbles, topping and binding pathways, and as a fine blinding layer over a coarser sub-base.

Granite dust compacts to a hard, stable surface in a way that sand cannot. The crushed particles are angular and vary in size, so under a vibrating plate they lock tightly together with very few voids, forming a firm, level bed that holds paving in position and resists the rutting and settlement that occur when blocks are laid on a loose or poorly graded material. That stability is why it is preferred for driveways and trafficked areas, where sand alone will migrate under load over time.

Supplied in a bulk bag containing approximately 850kg, it is ready to spread, screed, and compact. For paving, lay over a compacted sub-base to the required depth, screed level, and compact before laying the units. It also works well brushed into the joints of setts and cobbles, where it binds as it takes up moisture and settles firmer than kiln dried sand. Coverage will vary with the depth laid, so calculate to the bedding depth specified for the job.
