The Good and Proper Mitre Bond Kit is a two-part instant bonding system comprising a 200ml aerosol activator and a 50g cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is used for bonding mitred joints in skirting, architrave, coving, and dado rail, assembling picture and mirror frames, fixing trims, beading, and mouldings, and general joinery and workshop repairs where a joint needs to hold immediately.

Mitre bond works by chemical reaction rather than clamping time. The adhesive is applied to one face of the joint and the activator sprayed onto the other, and when the two are brought together the adhesive cures within seconds, holding the joint without clamps, pins, or waiting. That is what makes it so useful for fitting trim on site: mitres at skirting returns and around door frames can be assembled in position and let go straight away, rather than being pinned and filled or held while an adhesive sets.

The kit is DMPT free, which matters when working on MDF and painted surfaces. DMPT-based activators are known to react with some finishes and can cause staining or discolouration around the joint, showing through paint later. A DMPT-free formulation avoids that, making it the safer choice for pre-primed skirting, MDF mouldings, and work that will be painted. Apply the adhesive sparingly, spray the activator lightly on the opposing face, and bring the joint together with firm, accurate pressure — alignment must be right first time, as the bond forms almost instantly.
