This box supplies 100 woodscrews at 5.0 x 90mm, a long heavy-gauge screw for structural timber work. It suits joining framing timbers and joists, fixing wall plates, bearers, and trimmers, decking substructures and posts, fence rails and gate framing, shed and workshop construction, and connections between thicker timber sections where an 80mm screw would not reach far enough.

At 90mm the screw is chosen where the timber is heavier or the build-up deeper than standard framing. Driving through a 45mm timber it reaches around 45mm into the section behind, and through a doubled-up or packed-out member it still makes a proper connection into the piece beyond. The 5.0mm gauge gives the shank the strength to carry that load and to take the torque of driving a long screw into dense softwood without flexing or shearing.

The screw is built around how it grips. A single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving strong pull-out resistance so structural joints stay tight over time, while the countersunk head pulls flush into the surface and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit securely under the high torque a screw this length demands. Pilot holes are recommended at this size, particularly in hardwoods and near the ends of timbers, as a 5.0mm screw driven straight into a narrow section will split it.
