The FIXT Performance Screwtub supplies 600 woodscrews at 5.0 x 50mm in a resealable tub, ready for general carpentry and construction work. At this length the screws suit fixing skirting, architrave, and battens, hanging doors and fitting ironmongery, assembling frames and boxes, fixing plywood and sheet material to studwork, trellis and light garden work, and the countless small fixings that come up on any job.

The 50mm length is the most useful general size in the range. It gives enough grip for a solid fixing into framing timber without protruding through the other side of standard sections, which is why it tends to be the size that runs out first and why it comes in the largest tub count. At 5.0mm diameter the screw carries a good load while remaining fine enough to drive into softwood without splitting, though a pilot hole is still worth drilling close to an end or edge.

The screw is built around how it grips. A wide single thread cuts cleanly into the timber and compresses the fibres as it drives, giving high pull-out resistance so joints stay tight, while the recessed double countersunk head resists snapping under high torque and the reinforced drive recess holds the bit firmly with less cam-out.
