Product Description:
Our Insulated Plasterboard is a composite board combining 12.5mm tapered edge plasterboard bonded to 25mm of PIR insulation, giving a total thickness of 37.5mm. It is used for insulating and lining solid walls internally, upgrading cold external walls in older properties, insulating dormers, ceilings, and room-in-roof spaces, and for garage and outbuilding conversions where floor space is limited.
The appeal of an insulated board is that it does two jobs in one fix. Instead of battening a wall, fitting insulation between the battens, and then boarding over the top, the board is fixed directly to the wall and the room is insulated and ready to skim in a single operation. That saves considerable time, and because PIR has one of the lowest thermal conductivity ratings of any common insulation, a useful improvement in warmth is achieved with only 37.5mm lost from the room — far less than a battened build-up would take.
At 2400 x 1200mm, each board covers 2.88m² and the tapered edge allows joints to be taped and filled flush or skim plastered as preferred. Boards can be fixed with drywall adhesive dabs or mechanically with insulated plasterboard fixings, depending on the substrate and its condition. The 25mm insulation depth is the lightest in the range and is generally chosen where space is at a premium or a modest improvement is wanted, with thicker boards used where a specific U-value has to be met.
