Our 15mm Tapered Edge Fireline Plasterboard is a fire-protecting building board designed for use where an enhanced level of fire resistance is required. Manufactured with a gypsum core reinforced with glass fibre and encased in heavy-duty paper liners, it is suitable for stud partitions, ceilings, domestic separating walls, garages, protected stairwells, and structural encasement in both residential and commercial buildings.

The glass fibre reinforcement is what gives the board its performance in fire. As the gypsum core is heated, the fibres hold it together rather than allowing it to crack and fall away, maintaining the integrity of the wall or ceiling for longer and giving occupants more time to escape. This makes it a common specification for garage ceilings and walls where a garage adjoins living accommodation, for separating walls between dwellings, and for any element where a rated fire construction is called for. The 15mm thickness also gives useful additional impact resistance and sound reduction compared with a standard 12.5mm board.

The tapered edge profile features a shallow recess along the long edges of the board, creating a channel for jointing tape and filler so that joints finish flush with the board face. This makes it suitable for both taped-and-jointed work and a full skim finish. At 2400 x 1200mm, each board covers 2.88m² and fits standard 400mm and 600mm stud and joist centres. The board is heavier than standard 12.5mm plasterboard, so a two-person lift is recommended, particularly for ceiling work.
