Product Description:

Longrake Black Ice Chippings are a decorative aggregate in deep charcoal and near-black tones, supplied in a 20kg handy bag. The 20mm size suits borders and flower beds, planters and pot toppings, rockeries, water features, small pathways, and modern garden schemes where a dark, bold aggregate is wanted.

A dark stone does something no pale aggregate can: it sets everything else off. Light paving looks lighter against it, green planting looks greener, and the whole scheme gains definition, which is why black chippings have become a mainstay of contemporary garden design. Wet, the colour deepens to a glossy near-black, so the surface shifts in appearance with the weather and after watering.

Practically, dark aggregate is also the most forgiving. Leaf litter, dirt, and organic staining mark cream and buff stone within a season but barely register on black, so it holds its look with far less upkeep. The 20kg bag suits smaller areas and topping up, can be lifted and poured by one person, fits in a car boot, and stores easily in a shed. A depth of 40mm to 50mm is usually enough for decorative work, laid over a weed membrane to keep the stone clean. Larger areas are more economically covered with the bulk bag.
