Suelo Composite Decking is a wood-plastic composite board measuring 25 x 150mm and supplied in 3.6m lengths in charcoal. It is used for garden decking, raised platforms and terraces, balconies, walkways, poolside areas, and roof terraces across domestic and light commercial projects.

Composite decking exists to solve the problems of timber. Made from wood fibre bonded with polymer, the board does not rot, warp, splinter, or need the annual sanding, oiling, or staining a timber deck demands. It will not go green and slippery the way untreated softwood does, it holds its colour far better through sun and rain, and maintenance amounts to little more than an occasional wash. The trade-off is a higher cost at purchase, usually recovered over the life of the deck in upkeep not spent.

Charcoal is the contemporary choice, suiting modern houses, grey render and cladding, anthracite windows and bi-folds, and grey porcelain paving, where a brown board would look out of step. A dark deck also frames pale furniture and green planting more sharply than a mid tone. It is worth knowing that dark surfaces absorb more heat, so a charcoal deck in full sun will run noticeably warmer underfoot than a lighter board. The 3.6m length suits most domestic deck widths without joining. Fix to a joist substructure at the spacing specified by the manufacturer, as composite needs closer joist centres than timber, and leave expansion gaps at ends and sides, since composite moves more than timber with temperature and boards fitted tight will buckle.
