Product description:

Our 140mm Dense Concrete Block is a solid, high-strength building block with a compressive strength of 7N/mm², suitable for both solid and cavity wall construction. It is used for load-bearing internal and external walls, separating and party walls, foundations below DPC, retaining walls, garages, extensions, and general masonry work across residential and commercial projects.

The 140mm thickness is the step up from standard 100mm blockwork, and it is chosen where a wall needs to carry greater load, stand at a greater height, or deliver better sound reduction between rooms or dwellings. The extra mass makes a real difference to acoustic performance, which is why 140mm dense block is commonly specified for party walls and separating walls, and it also gives a more robust fixing for heavy items such as kitchen units, radiators, and wall-hung sanitaryware.

The dense, solid composition is water resistant and durable, making the block suitable for use below ground and in exposed positions where lightweight aerated blocks would be less appropriate. At 440 x 215mm on face, it courses in with standard brickwork at three brick courses to one block, and is compatible with standard mortars. The finished wall can be plastered, rendered, dry lined, or left fair faced depending on the project. Being a heavy unit, correct manual handling is important on site.
