Product Description:

Tarmac Cold Lay Macadam is a ready-to-use repair material supplied in a 25kg bag for patching damaged asphalt and macadam surfaces. It is used for filling potholes, trenches, and depressions, patching cracked or broken tarmac, reinstating around gullies, manholes, and ironwork, and making good after cable and pipe work on driveways, car parks, paths, and roads.

Cold lay macadam is the practical alternative to hot-laid tarmac for repair work. It needs no heating, no mixing, and no specialist plant, so a repair can be made straight away with hand tools alone, which suits small areas, urgent repairs, and jobs too minor to justify a contractor and a hot mix. The material stays workable in the bag and cures under compaction and traffic rather than by cooling, so there is no rush to get it down before it stiffens.

To apply, clear the area of loose material, dust, and standing water, then fill in layers of no more than 50mm, compacting each layer firmly with a rammer, vibrating plate, or the back of a shovel on small repairs. Overfill slightly before the final compaction to allow for settlement, as the material beds down further under use. The repair can be driven on as soon as it is compacted, and will continue to consolidate over the following days. The finish blends with existing tarmac.
