Product Description:

Our Kandla Grey Sandstone is a naturally quarried Indian stone paving slab measuring 900 x 600mm, suited to patios, pathways, seating areas, and garden steps across domestic and light commercial landscaping. It is one of the most widely used sandstones in the UK, working equally well with period properties and contemporary schemes.

Kandla Grey runs through soft, even greys with occasional blue and darker banding across the surface, giving it a cooler, more restrained appearance than the buff and multi-coloured sandstones. That makes it a natural match for grey render, slate roofs, painted timber, and modern glazing, and it holds its tone well as the stone weathers. Being quarried rather than manufactured, every slab differs, and that variation is what gives a laid patio a depth that uniform paving cannot reproduce.

The riven surface is formed by splitting the stone along its natural bed, leaving a textured, slightly undulating face with good grip underfoot in wet weather. Slabs should be laid on a full mortar bed, which is the recommended method for natural stone, and calibrated stone beds more evenly than uncalibrated. Sandstone is porous, so a sealant is worth considering after laying to reduce staining and make cleaning easier, particularly around dining and barbecue areas.
