Our DPC Polythene is a flexible damp proof course supplied in a 600mm x 30m roll, the widest option for jobs where a barrier has to cover an unusually deep wall, span a wide cavity, or be dressed up and around a detail in one piece. It is used for stepped DPCs and cavity trays on deep insulated cavities, beneath sills, thresholds, and wide openings, under timber sole plates and sleeper walls, beneath copings on thicker parapet and boundary walls, and for general moisture separation between masonry, timber, and soil.

At 600mm, the roll gives enough width to form a cavity tray on the deepest modern cavity walls, with material to spare for upstands, so the barrier can rise across the cavity and turn up the inner leaf without a joint. It also suits one-and-a-half-brick walls and wide piers, where narrower rolls would leave the edges exposed. Off the wall, it is a practical separating layer, laid beneath timber on masonry, behind planters and raised beds built against a wall, or under garden buildings and bases to keep ground moisture away from the structure above.

Polythene DPC is lightweight, easy to cut with a knife, and can be cut down lengthwise into narrower strips, so a single roll can supply several widths on the same job. Lay on a fresh mortar bed, lap joints and corners by at least 100mm, and link the DPC with the floor damp proof membrane where it forms part of a building. Keep it clear of render, pointing, and raised external ground levels, which would allow moisture to bridge around it.
