Product Description:

Our Black Bitumen Repair Macadam is a ready-to-use cold lay tarmac supplied in a 25kg Maxipack for repairing damaged asphalt and macadam surfaces. It is suitable for filling potholes, trenches, and depressions, patching cracked or broken tarmac, reinstating around gullies, manholes, and ironwork, and making good after cable and pipe work on driveways, car parks, paths, and roads.

Cold lay macadam is the practical alternative to hot-laid tarmac for repair work. It requires no heating, no mixing, and no specialist plant, so a repair can be made immediately with hand tools alone, which makes it well suited to small areas, urgent repairs, and jobs too minor to justify a contractor and a hot mix. The material remains workable straight from the bag and cures under compaction and use rather than needing to cool.

To apply, clear the area of loose material, dust, and standing water, then fill the repair in layers of no more than 50mm, compacting each layer firmly with a rammer, vibrating plate, or the back of a shovel for small repairs. Overfill slightly before final compaction to allow for settlement, as the material beds down further under traffic. A 25kg pack covers approximately 0.5m² at 25mm depth, though this varies with the depth of the repair. The black finish blends with existing tarmac and can be driven on as soon as it is compacted.
