Product Description:
Our 45 x 145mm treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 4.8m lengths and pressure treated for durability. Machine finished to a consistent section along its full length, it is suitable for floor and ceiling joists, rafters and purlins, decking frames, stud walls, wall plates, and general structural framing across domestic and light commercial projects.
At 4.8m, this is the length to reach for on larger openings and wider bays, where a shorter joist would need intermediate support or a bearing wall beneath it. It covers extensions, garden rooms, garage conversions, and full-width decking frames in a single unbroken piece, removing the joints and hangers that weaken a run and slow the job down, and any surplus cuts down cleanly into trimmers, noggins, and shorter members rather than going to waste.
Regularising machines the timber to an even section from end to end, so joists sit level with one another and boards, plasterboard, or decking fix down flat without packing. This matters more over a long span, where a small variation in depth is exaggerated across the length of the timber. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack in damp or exposed positions. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24, it meets the structural requirement for most standard domestic applications. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails, screws, and hangers, and treat cut ends with end grain preservative.
