Product Description:
Our 45 x 145mm Treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 3.6m lengths and pressure treated for durability. Machine finished to a consistent section along its full length, it is suitable for floor and ceiling joists, rafters and roof timbers, decking frames and joists, stud walls, wall plates, and general structural framing across domestic and light commercial work.
The 3.6m length is the practical advantage of this option. It spans a typical room width or decking bay in a single piece, avoiding the joints, hangers, and additional support that come with piecing shorter lengths together, and it gives enough material to cut down for trimmers, noggins, and shorter members without waste. At 145mm deep and 45mm thick, this is one of the most commonly specified joist and framing sections in domestic construction, sitting comfortably at standard 400mm and 600mm centres.
Regularising machines the timber to an even section from end to end, removing the variation that comes off the saw, so joists line through at a consistent depth and boards, plasterboard, or decking fix down flat without packing or scribing. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack and allowing use in damp or exposed positions such as decking frames and ground floor joists. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24, it meets the structural requirement for most standard domestic applications. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails, screws, and hangers, and treat cut ends with end grain preservative.
