treatedProduct Description:
Our 45 x 145mm Treated Sawn Timber is a regularised carcassing timber supplied in 2.4m lengths and pressure treated for durability. Machine finished to a consistent section along its full length, it is suitable for floor and ceiling joists, rafters and roof timbers, decking substructures and joists, stud walls, wall plates, noggins, and general structural framing across domestic and light commercial work.
Regularising is what separates this from rough sawn stock. The timber is machined to an even 45 x 145mm section from end to end, removing the variation that comes off the saw, so joists line through at the same depth, studwork sits flat, and boards, plasterboard, or decking fix down without packing or scribing. The result is quicker, more accurate work on site and a noticeably better finished surface. Supplied graded to a mix of C16 and C24, it meets the structural requirement for most standard domestic applications.
Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack and allowing the timber to be used in damp or exposed positions such as decking frames, garden structures, and ground floor joists. At 145mm deep, this section is a common choice for joists and decking frames at typical spans and spacings. Fix with galvanised or stainless nails, screws, and hangers, as the preservative will corrode untreated steel over time, and treat cut ends with end grain preservative to maintain protection.
