Product Description:
Our 25 x 50mm Blue Treated Roofing Batten is a pressure treated softwood batten supplied in 4.8m lengths for use in roofing and general construction. Primarily used to support slates and tiles on pitched roofs, it is equally useful for counter battening, cladding and timber frame work, fixing plasterboard to masonry, and general site battening across both domestic and commercial projects.
Roofing batten sits beneath the tiles for the life of the roof, in a cold, ventilated space where damp and condensation are a constant presence, so preservative protection matters more here than on most timber. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the batten under vacuum, protecting against fungal decay and insect attack in a position that would be costly and disruptive to put right once the roof is finished. The blue colour is a treatment dye that makes treated batten easy to identify on site and at inspection, and it will fade with exposure to daylight.
