Our 12.5mm Tapered Edge Sound Panel Plasterboard is a high-density acoustic building board designed for use where reducing sound transfer between rooms is a priority. Manufactured with a denser gypsum core than standard plasterboard and encased in heavy-duty paper liners, it is suitable for stud partitions, separating walls, ceilings, and wall linings in both residential and commercial buildings.

The increased density of the core improves the board's resistance to airborne sound, making it a popular choice for bedrooms, home offices, home cinemas, bathrooms, flats and HMOs, and any partition where privacy between rooms matters. It also offers the same basic fire protection and impact resistance expected of a 12.5mm board, and can be used as a direct replacement for standard plasterboard whenever better acoustic performance is required. Note that overall sound reduction depends on the complete wall or ceiling build-up, including stud type, cavity insulation, and the number of board layers, rather than on the board alone.

The tapered edge profile features a shallow recess along the long edges of the board, creating a channel for jointing tape and filler so that joints finish flush with the board face. This makes it suitable for both taped-and-jointed work and a full skim finish.
