It is fixed to the corners of walls, window and door reveals, columns, and boxing before plastering, on both new build and refurbishment projects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eAn external corner is the most vulnerable part of any plastered wall. Without a bead, the plaster arris chips and crumbles with the first knock from a vacuum cleaner, a piece of furniture, or a shoulder carrying something through a doorway. The bead puts a steel edge at that corner, giving a hard wearing arris that stands up to daily use, and it also provides a straight, true line for the plasterer to work to, which is far quicker and more accurate than forming a corner freehand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThincoat beads are made specifically for skim finishes over plasterboard, with a shallower wing profile than render beads so the nose sits at the right depth for a 2 to 3mm skim coat. A bead designed for a thicker render coat would stand proud and show through. Fix to the corner with plasterboard adhesive dabs or galvanised fixings, check it for plumb and line before the adhesive sets, and skim up to the nose from both sides.
