The cement and aggregate come pre-blended in the correct proportions, so there is no mixing board, barrow, or measuring involved — the dry mix is poured straight into the hole around the post and water added on top, or added to water in the hole depending on the manufacturer's instructions. It sets within minutes rather than hours, which means a post can be held plumb by hand for a short time and then left, instead of needing propping and bracing overnight before the next one can go in. On a fence run of a dozen posts, that difference decides whether the job takes a day or a weekend.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eSet the post in a hole roughly three times the width of the post, with around a quarter to a third of the post length below ground, and check it for plumb in both directions before the mix goes off, as there is very little time to adjust afterwards. Finish the top of the concrete slightly above ground level and slope it away from the post so rainwater runs off rather than sitting against the timber.
